About Murdock Woodworks
Murdock Woodworks was born out of a desire to challenge myself—both mentally and creatively—and to embrace the satisfaction that comes from doing hard things. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a deep appreciation for working with wood. There’s something inherently rewarding about choosing to create something with my own hands rather than simply buying it off a shelf. That sense of connection to the process, of shaping raw materials into something meaningful, has stayed with me through every stage of life.
Working with wood is humbling in a way that few other mediums are. Every project, no matter how familiar or straightforward it might seem, has its own challenges. I often find myself learning something new—or even failing—at various steps along the way. But that’s the beauty of it. Woodworking teaches you patience, persistence, and the ability to see mistakes not as setbacks, but as opportunities to grow. Each piece of wood has its own personality, its own quirks, and as I navigate those challenges, I come away not just with a finished project but with new skills and insights that I carry into the next one.
There’s an immense sense of pride and fulfillment that comes with calling a project complete. It’s not just about the end result—it’s about the journey of getting there. Every time I complete a piece, I take those lessons and that hard-earned sense of accomplishment with me into the next build. Over time, each project becomes a stepping stone for the next, each one better than the last, and the sense of satisfaction grows stronger with every turn of the saw or swing of the hammer.
Woodworking isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s a passion that keeps me up at night, running through ideas and solving problems in my head. It’s what gets me out of bed early, excited to see what’s possible. That’s why I decided to start Murdock Woodworks. It’s my way of turning this lifelong love for woodworking into something bigger—a profession that not only fuels my creativity but also allows me to share that passion with others. Murdock Woodworks is a celebration of craftsmanship, perseverance, and the joy of creating something truly unique.
